GARGRAVE PARISH COUNCIL 

SPECIFICATION FOR GRASS CUTTING 2022

NO WEEDKILLER TO BE USED, Strim with care where sprayed in the past.

PLANTATION

(Situated between River and South Street)

To cut all grass 14 times during season commencing 01 April, ending 31 October, leaving all flowering bulbs until 6 weeks after flowers have died back. Strim with care where sprayed in past. Excluding cutting of the area between the Public Toilets and the River Bridge.

 

RIVERS PLACE SLIP WAY

Located down Rivers Place on the right hand side after the plantation enclosure, leading down to the river.  This area is to be strimmed 3 times a year. Clear spoil from spill way.

 

WAR MEMORIAL GREEN

(Situated in front of Water Street and adjacent A65, section by River Bank with benches)

To cut all grass 14 times during season commencing 01 April, ending 31 October, leaving all flowering bulbs until 6 weeks after flowers have died back, strim round all stones 7 times during season. Strim triangle adjacent (A65 Chippings)

Ensure footpath to stepping stones is kept clear.  All grass cuttings to be removed.

 

HIGH GREEN

(Situated south of river, from River Bridge to Walton Avenue)

To cut all grass 14 times during season commencing 01 April, ending 31 October, leaving all flowering bulbs until 6 weeks after flowers have died back.  Strim as required.

Cut grass to 1 metre to water’s edge to try and keep below 1ft high.

Strim under and around benches.

 

 

DAMSIDE/MILL RACE – EXTRA TO CUT NEW DAMSIDE FENCE & NEAR GOIT

(Situated from Church Street to Walton Avenue, alongside goit)

Cut all grass 14 times during season commencing 01 April, ending 31 October, leaving all flowering bulbs until 6 weeks after flowers have died back.

Strim the banking back and maintain clear passage along steps down to High Green and the river, collecting and removing cut vegetation. Strim as required.

To cut area of grass at the top end of the green (past the dog waste bin on right hand side with bench on) leading up to Walton Avenue/The Beeches.

Cut up to edge of Goit banking on High Green side.

Control growth on River edge to below 1ft tall between the cut areas. Cut to top of embankment slope opposite houses. So that start of steep slope is clearly visible.

Strim under and around benches and new fencing to Goit etc. Monthly.

  

 

MIDDLE GREEN

(Situated south of river from bridge to sewerage farm access gate)

Cut all grass eastwards from sycamore tree in front of Bridge House 14 times during season commencing 01 April, ending 31 October, leaving all flowering bulbs until 6 weeks after flowers have died back.  Also strim along fencing / hedge. Stone pick the area.

Control growth on River bank to below 1ft between stepping stones and Bridge House. 1 metre left to side of river but no more than 1ft high.

Strim under and around benches etc.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

LOW GREEN   

(Situated between River Place, South Street, East Street and Mill Lane)

Cut all grass 14 times during season commencing 01 April, ending 31 October, leaving all flowering bulbs until 6 weeks after flowers have died back.  Cut to top of river banking edge, strim mid-July and end October. Strim round large stones and benches at all times, (every cut).  Area from Pinfold entrance to allotment gardens strim mid-June and end October.

Strim under and around benches etc.  Strim side of wall to Pinfold properties.

 

FOOTBALL PITCH ON LOW GREEN

To cut extra short on the football field each cut and collection of grass on this area of the pitch.

(Do not leave cuttings along wall of Knowles House). Can leave against field wall instead but not Pinfold wall. Strim up to pinfold wall.

 

PLAYGROUND (situated end of Airedale Avenue)

Cut all grass 14 times during season commencing 01 April, ending 31 October and trim tree’s/hedge once per year.

 

KISSING GATES – Triangle to Eshton Road.

(Bird Cage Walk) Strim as required.

 

RAILWAY STATION CAR PARK

Strim as required – Roadside verge and trees from tarmac footpath to other side of bridge (below Railway Station to top side of the bridge).

 

VERGES AND PATH TO RAILWAY STATION CAR PARK

Cut all hedges and trees back to footpaths (below Railway Station to top side of the bridge).  Cut grass verges 14 times per year.

 

BENCHES

Cut around benches to enable them to be used.

Chew Lane – Cut in front/under/rear 2 no.

West Street – Cut in front/under/rear 2 no.

Mark House Lane – Cut in front/under/rear 1 no.

Eshton Road – Trim hedge and strim weeds with care.

Moorber Lane – Top of hill.

 

ALL – SO THEY CAN BE USED.

NEEDS TO BE MONTHLY AT LEAST.

 

WOODLAND WALK

Mow a 4 foot wide path to keep cut monthly along woodland walk down near river and back up by rear fence with path to sewage works gate.

 

 

ALL AREAS – TAKE SPECIAL CARE NOT TO DAMAGE ANY SMALL TREES AND SAPLINGS.
